Going Solar With
LGND Energy is Easy
Solar Installation Process
Going solar might look like an easy process, but there are actually a few complex steps that need to be completed before you harness the sun’s energy. Before you can even choose a solar system or calculate your monthly utility savings, you will need to hire the right solar installation company.
LGND Energy does all the proper prep work, permit and equipment handling, and final system checks that ensure a quality solar panel installation. Solar installation should be done following these steps.
Our Install Process
-
Site Survey
Before a solar system is chosen, we will ask about your energy usage, energy needs, and what you ultimately hope to accomplish by going solar. We want to know what you hope to gain and how much you are willing to spend to get it. LGND Energy will also look at your roofing material, the size of the roof, and any shading that could be a challenge for energy collection. -
Preparing The Roof
Once we have seen the home or business, we can make sure the roof is in great shape. The roof needs to be structurally sound and durable enough to support the weight of solar panels. Before installing your solar panels, professionals will need to inspect the roof for damage and make necessary repairs. Some roofs may also benefit from additional structural support before panels and batteries are placed on the roofing material. -
System Design
Now that we know what your roof can handle, we can draw up plans for the size, number, and type of panel that you may need. You will also receive a written proposal with how much energy we think you will need and what systems we recommend for optimal performance. We’ll get you approved with the best options available for solar. If you are approved, you can expect a ZERO dollar out-of-pocket cost to start the job! All you will do is pay a reduced/fixed monthly amount for your solar system instead of buying expensive dirty power from your utility provider. -
Obtain Permits
Before anything can be done on your home, you will need to obtain permits from your city or state. This refers to additions, roofing projects, solar installation, or large landscaping work. Solar panels also need to have a permit to be installed on any type of building. The installer of your panels will be the one who obtains the permits and paperwork. You will need to read over the terms and sign the paperwork before your solar installation can begin. -
Mounting The Panels
There are a few different methods that can be utilized when installing solar panels on a home. Here are some of the most common installation methods for different roof types.- Lag Bolt & Flashing: Asphalt shingles
- U-Clamp or Brackets: Metal roofs
- Ballast mounts: Flat roofs and Rubber roofs
-
Wiring
Once the panels are mounted to your roof and are secure, the wiring will be done by an electrician. This will connect the panels to an inverter, the city grid, and your home electrical system. -
Inverter Installation
You will need an inverter to convert the energy from the solar panels into electricity. Installing an inverter will convert DC electricity into AC electricity for your home use. -
System Testing And Approval
Now that all the components are in place, it is time to test the system for any problems or errors. The system will be inspected to ensure it meets building codes and any other necessary regulations. Testing the solar collection, electrical connections, your solar battery, and the inverter will ensure you can start seeing benefits right away. -
Activation and Utility Connection
The final step is to activate the system! Once the panels are connected to the grid, they will start providing you with power. The last approval will need to be done by the utility company to ensure grid connectivity.
